Portman Limited is one of the major Australia mining companies with the head office in Perth,Western Australia. Portman currently operates Koolyanbbing Iron Ore Mine and Cockatoo Island reminant iron ore mine.
Koolyanbbing iron ore mine is located in the Southern part of Western Australia, about 400 kilometers east of Perth.
Currently, Koolyanbbing iron ore mine produces about 4.5 million tons per year of high grade low Alumina/Silicon iron ore Lump and Fines ore at a ratio of approximately 50:50. Production from the new mining areas located at North of Koolyanbbing is expected to commence before the end of 2003, and annual production is planned to be increased to 6 million tons from 2004.
Cockatoo Island is located at North-west coast of Western Australia. Around 1 million tons of premium grade iron ore fines (Fe 68%) are produced annually at Cockatoo Island.
